Since when did this become the standard?

I've heard a couple times about FlickrFan and decided to try it out, but unfortunately ran into this problem that has recently been biting me in the ass a lot.

It's for Mac only.

I'm really close to becoming a convert because of so many cool things that I just can't do on my PC. I WANNA PLAY!
